As if our first stay wasn’t nice enough, it was time for us to visit the southern part of the island. For this of you that don’t know, Bali really differs from place to place, and in this case Uluwatu is one of the surfing capitals.

A more quiet retreat, Uluwatu Surf Villas were the most perfect place to relax, soak up the sea breeze and enjoy time collecting shells on our very own private beach.

For the 7 of us, we had a mini home for two nights consisting of a large and spacious kitchen/living room overlooking our very own pool and shared clifton garden. Leading off from the living area, 3 large and wonderfully decorated bedrooms each with their own breathtaking bathroom and shower area. The master containing a deep stone outdoor bath…dreamy!

At the end of the garden, a bench overlooking the cliff and crashing waves was a perfect spot for reading a book or sipping your morning coffee.

Nestled amongst the fence line was a small hidden gate, opening up to a rather treacherous staircase carved out of the cliff face. But don’t let the initial fear deceive you as at the bottom of the adventure you’ll find yourself on your very own secluded beach with crystal clear waters and your only company being a lone fisherman. Be careful for tides here, though.

Food:

Breakfast at the villa was more than a delight. Each morning, the wonderful staff at Uluwatu Surf Villas arrived to cook up our breakfast spread in the kitchen. Our choices were either banana pancakes or eggs, both served with warm fresh bread and a fruit platter to leave anyone drooling. Completely spoilt for choice.

In the nearby town, choices were multiple. Whether you’re looking for something more fresh such as an infamous Nalu Bowl or Poke, or something more traditional (Nasi Goreng), you’ll have no trouble. The staff will even organise delivery for you without any hassle, 10/10!

Local Attractions:

A 5 minute taxi ride from the villa is the very famous Uluwatu temple. Unfortunately we went just before closing which didn’t allow us to explore everything there, however the views over the sea at sundown was breathtaking.

Keep your wits about you, though, as the surrounding forest is saturated with monkeys eager to steal all that they can!

Sunday’s Beach Club

On our last day in Uluwatu, which just happened to be a Thursday, we decided to treat ourselves to something even more indulgent; a day at the breathtaking Sunday’s Beach Club. Think exclusive spa, set in the most beautiful beach location and that’s what you’ll get.
