What you didn’t know about @naturallymeghan
Today we’re putting the spotlight on a girl that we admire hugely for her presence on instagram. She’s a huge role model to her instagram following and has created a really open community on the social networking platform. So without further ado, let us introduce you to Meghan Langhorn…

We all know you as naturallymeghan, but what do you do aside from blogging?
I work full time in a home decor/gift/fashion shop called The Lovely Room which is fab because I’m surrounded by pretty things all day! I’ve also recently become an Independent Consultant for Neal’s Yard Remedies which is a natural and organic skincare company – I’m passionate about natural and cruelty-free beauty products so it’s perfect for me!

Do you have any hobbies?
As you know I love creating delicious meals and sharing them with people but I also enjoy practising yoga and Pilates, spending time in nature (beach/forest walks are my favourite pastime!) and getting lost in a good book.

What’s the best thing about living in Wales?

Probably the scenery! I live on the North Wales coast and my house is a 5 minute walk from the beach which is amazing. I also live near gorgeous mountains, forests and waterfalls so there’s the best of everything here really!

To someone visiting the area, do you have any recommendations?

Definitely visit Betws-y-Coed, it’s one of my favourite places! It’s a tiny little village with a beautiful forest – there’s an area near there called Fairy Glen which is as magical as it sounds. Betws also has an adorable cafe which has a huge range of vegan and vegetarian options!

If tomorrow were to be your last day on earth, what would you have for breakfast?

Oh wow, such a hard decision! Probably chocolate pancakes with lots of delicious toppings (I’m thinking raw chocolate chunks, chocolate sauce, coconut and berries). I wouldn’t say no to a vegan donut though!

Do you have a favourite tv series?

So many! It totally depends what I’m in the mood for but my all-time favourites have to be New Girl, Game of Thrones, Torchwood, Call the Midwife, Downton Abbey and Band of Brothers. I have a bit of a mixed taste in TV shows!

Tell us a secret about yourself.

The first person I had a crush on was Aragorn from The Lord of the Rings. I’m such a geek.

Do you have any pets?

I can’t have any pets where I live at the moment because I rent but I have a Jack Russell pup called Snoopy who lives with my parents. We got her when I was 10 and I adore her!

How long have you been blogging for?

Around two years now; I’m quite inconsistent with my blogging though, I’m a lot better at keeping my Instagram account updated!

Your pictures are beautiful, do you take them on your phone or using a camera?

Thank you so much, that’s so kind! I just take them on my phone, I have an iPhone 6s (and before that I had a 5s) and the camera on it is pretty good.

We know you took some time away from Instagram. Do you find that taking a break helped you? What advice would you give to someone hoping to do the same?

It helped me so much! I’m a very insecure person and last year I noticed that I was becoming way too obsessed with what I was posting and I was comparing my pictures to those of everyone  I follow. It was really getting me down and I wasn’t enjoying Instagram at all. So I decided to take some time out and I’m so glad I did because I rarely compare myself to other people anymore and I’m also a lot more comfortable posting pictures that aren’t necessarily food-based.
My advice would be to go for it, it’s always good to take a break from social media every now and again because we can get so caught up in it and forget about our lives outside of it! Social media should be a positive place to gain inspiration, not a negative place where you beat yourself up for not being ‘good enough’.

It must sometimes become overwhelming to have such a large following whom look up to you, how do you deal with this?
It’s sometimes overwhelming, yes! But when I feel like that I just remind myself that I’m incredibly blessed to have a platform where I can share all the things I’m passionate about with so many people. I have strong opinions on topics like veganism, feminism and mental health so it’s great to be able to share those thoughts with people and hopefully inspire them to become more aware of what’s going on in our society and what they can do to help.

What’s your favourite recipe on your blog?

Definitely one of my pancake recipes – chocolate and banoffee are always winners!

• • • •

When are you the most happy?

When I’m walking on the beach or in a forest with the sun on my face and my boyfriend by my side. Or snuggled up on the sofa in my pyjamas with a hot chocolate on a cold day!
