Our Stay at Stoke Park

“Founded in 1908, Stoke Park is the perfect place to enjoy life in a five star and friendly atmosphere. We provide a unique combination of the traditions of an exclusive club and the best of today’s sporting, leisure, entertaining and hotel facilities in one of the most convenient locations in Britain: only 35 minutes from London and 7 miles from London Heathrow.”

Sold, right? Yes, us too.

We had the pleasure of visiting the wonderful Stoke Park for an evening, and if our stay is anything to go by, you just haveto go.

Situated amongst a manicured golf course – formerly a deer park owned by the Penn family – the grand estate oozes luxury and comfort. Whether you’re looking to unwind in the spa, keep fit in the gym (fitted with more equipment than one can ever imagine), hit some balls on the golf course or even just relax by the warm fire with a nice cuppa, Stoke Park is the perfect retreat.

Let me keep this short and sweet, and fill you in on our new favourite countryside destination!!

The hotel itself is split into two main buildings. You have the grand Mansion (pictured) which houses 21 beautiful bedroom suites decorated inkeeping with the building. The rooms are cosy, comfortable, and kitted out with every amenity you could think of. The room we stayed in had access to the balcony which overlooked the rambling hills and blossoming trees – morning coffee had never looked so good!

Just across the carpark you will find The Pavilion which not only houses another 28 bedrooms but also the spa, gym and access to the state of the art indoor tennis courts! The bedrooms in this part of the hotel provide a more contemporary twist – think bright lights, extravagant decor and artwork too.

The Food:

There are three restaurants at the hotel, Humphry’s – fine dining british cuisine, San Marco – a relaxed Italian style restaurant, more well suited to a family environment or casual meal and The Orangery – a cosy room with wall to ceiling windows that drown the room in light, waiting to fill your empty stomachs with an abundant breakfast or afternoon tea.

The Experience:

The thing that struck us the most about our stay at Stoke Park was definitely the staff. It’s very rare these days that hospitality is number 1 on the agenda. A theme that certainly doesn’t apply here. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by ear to ear grins, and surrounded by helpful attendees ready to check us in, show us to our room and look after our luggage. All members of staff being well turned out and in great spirits. When asking about the history of the park, it was only a matter of moments before we were handed a beautiful book containing all of the history. Definite brownie points.

At this point I’d like to mention Nick – head of Commuinications. Possibly THE most entertaining, full of life and knowledgeable host. He really was a credit to Stoke Park, showing us around the grounds with an enthusiasm for his work that we can only admire. Oh, and did we mention that he was funny too?

For those fitness bunnies amongst us, you will have a field day in the fitness studio, or should we say playground for grownups. Think of all of your favourite gym equipment, then think again. It’s not every day that you can run through a park on a treadmill…

It wasn’t long before I delved into one of the gym classes either. Everyday there are multiple classes taking place throughout the day, so for those of you that struggle to find the motivation to workout alone…have no fear. I tried out the HIIT class, and despite my tomato appearance after the class, it was lots of fun! I also had a play on their TRX and deadlift equipment leaving me feeling like a real fitness blogger *cough*.

The Golf Course/Grounds:

We aren’t avid golfers, but if the beautiful scenery and manicured lawns is anything to go by, you need to get yourself a caddy and start putting. The golf club was bustling with what appeared to be regular members whom I’m sure would welcome you to get stuck in. Even we were tempted to give it a shot!

But don’t fret. For those of you that have no interest in the golfing world, the landscape gardens make an idyllic early morning walk or afternoon stroll.

The above isn’t all that Stoke Park offers, either. Throughout the year the beautiful location plays host to multiple different events such as Christmas and New Year celebrations or even the infamous Boodles tennis event.

It goes without saying…we will be back!
