Hi Shirley, thanks for joining us on the blog today. Tell us a little about yourself and the birth of littlemissbento:

It was accidental 🙂 Sort of at least. 😀 I started making bento for practical reasons and when I decided to merge my interest for Japanese culture and food into my bento, my friends took notice and encouraged me to post them online. So I figured, why not start a blog. And it all rolled from there.

Typically, where do you get your inspiration for your creations?

I get this question quite a lot. Like art, my bento designs are inspired by everyday experiences and of course trending topics too. It really can range from popular characters, to interesting topics (like a royal baby bento when prince william and kate had a baby) to weather (made an ice cream bento, and cloud bento), amongst others.

What’s the best thing about living in Singapore?

I love being in the city, the cosmopolitan environment also meant that I have great access to materials and ingredients for my food creations.

We hear you’re a huge fan of everything Kawaii and everything Japanese. Where’s your favourite place to visit in Japan?

Too many to name, but I still love Tokyo and Kyoto the most. The former is a big vibrant hub of the most trendy and latest while the latter is of beautiful ancient Japanese traditions.

If you were to die tomorrow and could have one final 3 course meal, what would it be?
