Hi Aisling! We love your instagram @ohhappyveggie, but aside from blogging, what do you do?

Thanks so much that means a lot coming from such talented creative people like yourselves! My life right now is just a little insane…I’m only 20 and I dropped out of university last year to travel, so ever since then I’ve worked really hard to save and now here I am on a trip around the world. I wouldn’t mind doing that for the next few years, working, saving and then seeing as much of the world as possible! There’s so many places I want to go – India, the Philippines and Cambodia are next on my list after my current adventure.

You live in Perth, what’s your favourite thing about living in Aus?

There’s so many things I love about Australia so that’s so hard! The beaches are pretty incredible, as well as consistently perfect weather. It’s coming up to winter now and still 30 degrees some days… I get overwhelmed when the sun sets every day! If you have ever lived in Australia you will know how big of a deal coffee is here – I have yet to have a bad one! I also love the food here there are so many vegan places!

You’re super creative behind the camera, what’s your biggest photography tip?
Get inspired! Go to a beach or to the mountains, catch a bus to a new town or explore your home town, find new music on soundcloud, talk to strangers, read a book about something you don’t know much about, watch something you normally wouldn’t, go to a modern art gallery, just do something a bit different and you’re bound to get the creative juices flowing. Getting into that buzzed up state will surely inspire you to create. It’s so hard to take photos that convey any energy or emotion when you’re feeling drained or uninspired.

Photography is something I’m always working on and trying to improve at. I think it’s important for new photographers to just keep practicing and trying and not get too frustrated if things don’t turn out how you imagined. Instead be excited for how much you have to learn and develop and how far you have come. It’s a work in progress.

You’re also on YouTube, do you prefer being behind or in front of the camera?

I definitely prefer being behind the lens! I love being creative and taking photos and videos of my friends but I often feel a little camera shy when I’m the subject. When it comes to spreading a message though I’m not afraid to put myself out there.

On the weekend, where would we find you?

To be honest I don’t even usually notice what day of the week it is, I do casual day’s work here and there to get by so it just depends. I think that’s what tends to happen when you’re travelling around living you’re life! But when I’m not working and have no obligations you’ll probably find me on the beach, at lunch with my girl gang or maybe in a cute café working on some creative things.

You’re a really powerful self-love advocate. What’s your best piece of advice for someone learning to fall in love with themselves?

Accept that you don’t need to change anything about yourself. You don’t need to tone your tummy or buy expensive pimple creams or do 100 squats a night for a peachy bum. Right now, just as you are, with all your imperfections, you are perfect. You can still have things you’d like to work on, but you have to appreciate and love your current self. Otherwise you will get that peachy ass and not be content because you never learnt how to be.

Have you met any life-long friends from social media?

YES! I have met so many gorgeous people through Instagram it’s insane! That’s what social media SHOULD be used for – meeting and connecting with likeminded people. The girl I’m travelling with Billie and I have such similar attitudes to life, she is vegan too, loves to travel and is always down for spontaneous crazy adventures. My amazing housemate in Perth, Liz and I clicked the moment I met her for lunch on my birthday (when I had arrived 2 days previous and knew nobody!). It wasn’t long before we were making plans to move in together and for her to come on a roadtrip around Ireland when I’m home…There have been so many more friends I’ve made through Instagram/facebook meetups. Social media is a really powerful tool if used in the right way.

What is your dream job?
I have so many things I want to do! I’d like to supply cafes in Dublin with homemade vegan treats, maybe work at a food magazine or as a food stylist/photographer, I also want to buy a van and turn it into a vegan food truck and drive around Ireland to farmer’s markets and festivals. I’d die to own my own café or bakery someday. I wanna do something I love, because then it’s not really work!

What’s the best thing about being in your twenties?
Good question, I’ve only been in my twenties for 2 months so I’m not entirely sure. My experience so far has been having the freedom to do what I want when I want so that’s pretty good. I also love the thought of all the amazing experiences and opportunities, new people and places and good times that lie in front of me.

What makes you the happiest of all?

I’ll keep this one simple and typical – my friends and family.

Top beauty tip:

I don’t wear any makeup anymore and my skin has been clearer and more glowy than ever. I love the natural look.

Sunrise or sunset?

Sunrise! I love having a fresh new day ahead, endless possibilities of what I’ll get up to, watching the world wake up and breakfast plus coffee are on the horizon (pun intended).
