Hi @clean_eating_alice!! Before we get started, can you tell us a little about your instagram and how it started?

Hello! And may I say how excited I am to be interviewed by you two gorgeous ladies! Okay, so I began my instagram page whilst at college as a way of motivating myself to instigate a complete lifestyle change. I use it to post pictures of food, with fitness videos and some more lifestyle posts also featuring quite heavily now.

It’s undeniable that you’ve become a fitness guru and self love advocate. We hugely admire your journey and your enthusiasm with spreading a healthy message. But aside from your instagram, we know that you’re a full-time performer…tell us a little about that?

Yes, my first love is the theatre, and I trained for three years in musical theatre at Bird College. I sing, dance and act and have wanted to be on the stage from a very young age. I was always going to dance classes and having singing lessons and to continue my training at a professional college felt like the next obvious step.

Having graduated last year, I auditioned for and got a role in the UK Tour of Annie the musical, where I am an ensemble member and first cover to Grace Farrell. I am in a different city every week with the show, so life is a busy blur, but for me, nothing beats the buzz of performing every night in front of a live audience doing what I love.

Do you ever get scared when stepping out on the stage?

Absolutely! I am a perfectionist and I always want to perform my best, so theres always those moments where I still get nervous with every performance, but I think that is what keeps it interesting, and keeps me motivated.

What’s the worst thing about being on the road?

The touring life isn’t glamorous. I’d have to say that the worst part about being on the road is the constant upheaval. I only stay a week in each location, so I feel like in most places I’m only just getting settled, finding my feet and exploring, and then I have to pack up and move on.

Where do you call home?

When I’m not on tour, I live at my parents house in Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire. I grew up there and absolutely love the balance of country living combined with being so close to the city that I can be in town within 30 minutes.

Surely rehearsals and performing requires a lot of energy and commitment, does that make fitting in time for the gym difficult?

My days can be pretty jam packed, but I always try and schedule in the gym mainly because it’s doing something for ME that I enjoy. The gym is my escape from day to day life, and putting my headphones in and tuning the world out for an hour or so is as beneficial to my mind as it is my body. Having said that, I’m also always careful not to overdo it, and will always listen to my body and take rest days as and when I need.

Your hair always looks flawless, what’s your natural colour? And do you have any styling tips? + One make-up essential you couldn’t live without?

You guys make me giggle! Whilst my photos on instagram might show my hair in it’s best light, it’s usually a sweaty mess piled on top of my head! My day to day essentials include blasting my hair with a good hairdryer in the morning, post shower, and mixing a little Soap and Glory Hocus Pocus illuminator with my moisturiser. I also always ensure I’m wearing an SPF on my face, especially throughout spring and summer to protect my skin as I’m very fair.

My natural hair colour is fair, but I have highlights every 10 weeks or so to lighten it slightly!

What’s the last thing you spent money on (aside from food)?

I flew up to Aberdeen yesterday and bought myself a cheeky pair of sunglasses that I’d been lusting over for months. I haven’t been away on holiday for two years now, so my £3 Primark sunglasses have done the job, but I thought it was about time I invested in something a little more protective for my travels!

• • • •

What’s top of your summer wishlist?

Spending time with family and friends! Having been on the road for a year I cannot wait to relax back into family life and see my friends as much as possible.

We know social media can be a really great community, but do you ever find yourself becoming detached from the real world? If so, how do you tackle that?

It’s easy to do, and in all honesty, yes, I can sometimes find myself endlessly scrolling through social media feeds and becoming detached from real life. To combat this I am usually quite strict with myself. I walk everywhere and don’t walk whilst on the phone. I find this helps me to take in my surroundings and actually engage with the world around me instead of becoming lost in music or my phone. I also don’t use my phone 30 minutes before I sleep, and will usually read a book before bed which I find is far more relaxing!

Congratulations on your book deal! That’s pretty surreal. What’s the biggest thing you’ve learnt about this process?

Thank you so much! I’m still having to pinch myself! My biggest lesson I’ve learnt is to trust in my abilities. It’s easy to look at what others are doing and criticise your own decisions but I have a very firm ethos that I stick to, and I sometimes need to remind myself that there are times in life when you need to put blinkers on and focus on your own path instead of comparing it to others.

• • • •

Do you ever see the fitness and clean eating industry going bust? Surely we can’t all eat clean and work out solidly for the rest of our lives?

One thing I always advocate is creating life long healthy habits. I don’t think this fitness and health craze will last forever, but I do think our generations interest in eating better and improving our health should be celebrated. Creating healthy habits within a balanced lifestyle will ensure that you don’t succumb to fad trends that come and go, nor do you feel as though you have to stick to a rigid regime. Instead you can have a relaxed approach that ensures you are still aiming to create a healthy body, but ultimately a healthy mind too, free from restriction or guilt.

To date, what’s been your best memory?

My leaving party before I went away on tour was probably one of my happiest moments, surrounded by all my friends and family, I have honestly never been so overwhelmed to have so many people I love in one place. I’m hoping to recreate this again very soon when I’m home!!

Who makes you the most happy?

My best friends. I am very lucky to have a close circle of friends that I know will be there for me no matter what. Friends and family are very important to me, and nothing makes me happier than spending time with them.
