6 YOGA WEB SERIES YOU MUST WATCH AS A YOGI

If you’re like us, you may understand the difficulties that come along with being a new Yogi. How does one not think about that client who you have email back while doing the downward facing dog? Or how does one breathe in serenity and love when your head is only interested in how annoying your last phone call with your mum was? But alas! We are not alone, our friend, Alberto recommends 6 web series that humorously depict the struggles of the average wishful Yogi.

OM CITY

Created by Jessie Barr and Tom O’Brien, this series takes you inside the fascinating mind of Grace, a yoga teacher struggling to keep the balance between the spiritual and financial dissonance that comes with being a yogi in the hustle of the Big Apple.

The seven episodes follow her life events filled with awkward private sessions, terrible blind dates, emotional meltdowns, crying students and a few nice relationships. Something I think we can all relate to.

Namaste, Bitches

A fantastic comedic series produced by the successful yogi, Summer Chastant – The six episodes narrate the story of Sabine, a yoga teacher with a dark-side. She drinks, smokes, flirts with students, and is hardly a model of a Zen master. The worst part? Her coworkers’ main focus is uploading selfies and gaining more followers on Instagram. To quote the series, “Teaching yoga is about projecting an image, not about being truthful”.

Yoga Partners

Eight people, four mats, and one crazy substitute teacher: The perfect combination to put together a quite hilarious show. Guided by the limited knowledge of an incompetent touchy instructor, the hesitant conduct of the confused students definitely sets the scene for this comedy.

During the five episodes, you will enjoy a simple, yet sarcastic humour that will have you reaching for more.

Down Dog

In a parody of yoga stereotypes, Down Dog mocks typical situations that happen inside a peculiar wellness center. The plot centers around the owner Sven and his bizarre complications in running a yoga studio.

Its hilarious setting illustrates healthy food fanatics, meditation competitions, and the bro-code of men doing yoga. The charming characters on this show are guaranteed to give you a good laugh in the eight mini-episodes of the first season.

Yoga Town

Yoga Town is a mockumentary about Willow, a yoga studio owner dealing with financial problems and a new competition, Elijah, a charismatic eccentric Yoga teacher, next door. Desperate, Willow hires a consultant to help her defeat the intruder, but it seems more likely that his charm will end up stealing every single customer.

A very well produced series that will surely put a grin on your face and make you want to watch the 13 mini episodes all at once.

Posers

This series features two friends starting in the yoga world. Beth and Gabby couldn’t be more different. One is desperate to improve her breathing to ignite her career as an actress, while the other wants to find peace after getting dumped by her close to marriage, ex-boyfriend. With these intentions in mind, they venture out to their first class despite their non-existent fitness or mental stability.

The first and only season consists of eight episodes in which you will discover their fears, and laugh with and along the two main characters.
